NEW YORK CITY — Free cereal boxes bearing the image of New York rapper Cam'ron are being planted in bodegas across the city — but instead of cereal, each of them will contain a $100 bill, a promoter announced.

The promotion starts with four boxes hidden in bodegas in Harlem, the East Village, SoHo and the Lower East Side on Friday afternoon. A total of 12 boxes will be placed in bodegas over the course of the weekend, according to a spokesman for Virgin Mega USA, which organized the event.

The limited edition boxes feature an image of the rapper pointing a gun, the spokesman said. Aside from the cash prize, the free Killa Crunch boxes will also contain a limited-edition T-shirt featuring a photo of Cam'ron standing behind a bodega counter.

The company will tweet and Instagram the locations as they appear on the shelves, he said.

The promotion began in the neighborhood where the rapper was born and raised, in a Harlem bodega at 1 p.m., a spokesman for Virgin Mega USA said.

"We're picking bodegas that are easily accessible by public transportation," said the spokesman, who added that at least one box will be hidden in Brooklyn at some point this weekend.

The boxes also include a “U Mad Lib” and “Dumb Smart” crossword on the back, organizers said.

Fans who missed the cereal box hunt will be able to purchase the package for $45 via the Virgin Mega USA app starting on Monday at 4 p.m. But there will be no cash prizes in those boxes, organizers said.
