DUMBO — Step aside John Travolta.

DUMBO-based tech company Party NYC invented a dog vest with LED lights — and with two days left of a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce the "Disco Dog" vest, the company surpassed their goal by more than $5,000.

The creators aimed to raise $15,000 to create 80 prototypes for users to experiment with and to fund a launch event in Brooklyn. As of Thursday afternoon they had raised more than $20,000.

The vest is equipped with 256 lights, controlled by an app on your phone, that display animated patterns in thousands of colors turning your dog into a party on four legs.

Users can choose from modes like "sparkles," where the lights illuminate in a random order or "stripes," where they light up in line patterns.

"We love to party, we love technology, and we love dogs, so this product felt like a natural step for us," the company wrote on its Kickstarter page. Party NYC did not immediately comment for the story.

You can also type your own message such as your dog's name or "hello" into the app on your phone and have it appear on the vest.

And if a pup wanders out of a certain range, the message "Lost Dog" automatically appears on the lightweight and warm vest.

There is already a lot of hype around the vest in the dog community, although it was not clear when the vests would go into production.

Bark Box, a company that delivers dog treats to your door, called the vest an "awesome pawty piece for dogs of all sizes."
