THE BRONX — A man who beat his ex-girlfriend and her mother to death in their Bedford Park apartment in 2013 was sentenced to 50 years to life in prison for the murders on Thursday, prosecutors said.

Andrew Scott, 24, was found guilty last month for the murder of his ex-girlfriend Jana Randolph, 23, and her mother Ida Randolph, 65, according to the Bronx District Attorney's office.

Scott beat Ida Randolph with a baseball bat, crushing her skull and breaking her arm, during a robbery of the Randolphs' Valentine Avenue home with two other people on Oct. 1, 2013,  prosecutors said.

He then grabbed a large kitchen knife, stabbed Jana Randolph more than a dozen times and bludgeoned her, prosecutors said. He also cut his hand with the knife in the process.

Both women were found dead later that day by police in separate rooms of the apartment.

Joshua Lopez, 26, and Brittney Austin, 23, and Scott planned to break into the Randolphs' apartment to steal their money and debit cards as revenge for Scott after Randolph had broken up with him weeks before, prosecutors said.

Austin and Scott tied the Randolphs up when they fought back, prosecutors said. Austin and Lopez then left the apartment with the cards and cash, but Scott stayed in the apartment for an hour and a half, killing the women and cleaning up the murder, prosecutors said.

Lopez later tried withdrawing money using the card at an ATM, but failed, prosecutors said.

Before the murder, Scott dated Jana Randolph for seven years and moved into her apartment, but was kicked out after a year when he trashed the place and stole her debit card, prosecutors said.

Scott was previously arrested 15 times for charges including felony assault and reckless endangerment, the New York Daily News reported.

On Thursday, he was sentenced to 25 years to life for each of the murders and another 25 years for the robbery, prosecutors said. The charges will run concurrently.

Austin pled guilty to murder in the second degree and robbery in January and will be sentenced at a later date, prosecutors said. Lopez pled not guilty to murder and robbery charges, and his trial will start on May 12, prosecutors said. If convicted, Lopez faces up to 50 years to life in prison, prosecutors said.
