94-Year-Old Man's House Robbed After He Was Taken to the Hospital

EAST WILLIAMSBURG — A 94-year-old man whose door was broken down by emergency medical services who came to bring him to the hospital returned home to find $10,000 in cash gone, police said.

The victim, whose name was not released, told police that emergency personnel broke down the door to his apartment on Boerum Street near Lorimer Street on Wednesday, March 18 around 9 a.m. because he couldn't get out of bed, police said.

Authorities then took him to the hospital, and workers repaired the door, police said.

When the man returned home from the hospital on Saturday, March 21 around 8 a.m., he found that $10,000 in cash, a cell phone and a bank book were gone, police said.

No one has been arrested for the incident.

Other notable incidents in the 90th precinct include:

► A man walking in Williamsburg with his girlfriend was shot three times, police said.

The man, 24, was walking on Boerum Street near Humboldt Street with his girlfriend, also 24, around 4 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, police said.

A man, who was described as approximately 25 years old, came up behind the victim and displayed a black handgun, police said. He then shot at the victim at point blank range, hitting him once in the right butt cheek and twice in the back left leg, police said.

The suspect then ran on Humboldt. Five .25 caliber shell casings were found on the scene, police said.

The victim was transported to Bellevue Hospital. No one has been arrested for the incident.

► Michael Candelario, 17, was slammed with 13 charges after he and another teen followed a man home and attempted to assault him for his phone, police and the Brooklyn District Attorney's office said.

The victim, a 28-year-old male, was walking to his home on Stagg Street near Lorimer Street around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, March 26 when he noticed Candelario and another teen following him, police said.

Candelario and the other teen then followed the victim into his apartment, grabbed him and attempted to punch him, according to police and a criminal complaint. The other teen then grabbed the victim's iPhone and ran, police said.

Information about his attorney was not immediately available. He has been released on recognizance, according to the DA's ofice.
