THE BRONX — Two men were caught on surveillance video opening fire on a Soundview block and striking an innocent bystander in the head, leaving the victim in critical condition, police said.

Officers responded to a 911 call around 5 p.m. on March 26 and arrived at 1250 Morrison Ave. to find a 43-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his head, police said.

EMS took the victim to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition.

Police recovered a .40 caliber shell casing from the scene. They said they do not believe that the victim was the intended target.

Vide of the incident appears to show one of the suspects firing a handgun on the street and then walking away with another man.

The NYPD described the suspects as two men, with one wearing a gray hoodie and gray pants, and the other wearing dark pants and a dark jacket.

Another man had been arrested in connection with the shooting, but his charges were later dropped, according to the Bronx District Attorney's office.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS. The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at www.nypdcrimestoppers.com or texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577.
