FORT GREENE — These fashion collections are stylish and safe.

Designers and biking enthusiasts Sarah Canner and Danielle Baskin are presenting some of their latest pieces in a "Safety Chic Trunk Show" in Fort Greene on March 27, 28 and 29.

Canner, founder of Vespertine, will be showing her fashionable reflective gear including a yellow, Meribou-feathered vest with reflective strips, a breathable fabric dress with lights woven through the fabric and sparkly bracelets and earrings that also glow in the dark.

The Clinton Hill resident created the line so bikers can stay cute and safe.

"I am a bicyclist but I am also fearful of traffic — and I realized the thing I am most scared of is that cars wouldn't see me," she said. "This line is all about visibility."

Each of her pieces feature reflective tape — sometimes it stands out in the design and other times it is woven tastefully through the fabric.

Canner is presenting her collection alongside bike helmet designer Baskin whose helmets incorporate hand-painted designs such as a peacock feathers, an apple or a circuit board.

The funky designs found at Belle Helmets transform the "dull bicycle helmet into a unique fashion accessory," Baskin said.

"We hope to change the way people interact with and think about utilitarian objects and to get cyclists to ride more safely," she wrote on her website. "Safety doesn't have to compromise style."

HERE ARE SOME OTHER PLACES TO FIND STYLISH BIKE HELMETS.

Prices for Vespertine fashion range from $536 for a jacket to $68 for a vest and Belle Helmets cost from $85 to $300.

The trunk show takes place on March 27, 28 and 29 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gabriela de la Vega Boutique in Fort Greene at 88 S. Portland Ave. Wine will be served.
