MANHATTAN — A trio of kids was spotted catching a ride on the back of an uptown express train at an Upper West Side subway station.

The image, first published by West Side Rag, shows three children clinging to the back of a train that was leaving the 96th Street Station Monday about 6 p.m..

"It's unlawful and a very stupid act," said an MTA spokeswoman, who had no further information about the three people in the photograph.

The MTA warns against riding on top of trains or holding onto its outside doors, as well as riding between cars and leaning against doors.

Earlier on Monday morning, a woman was killed by a 1 train while she was walking between cars, according to a preliminary investigation by police.
