FLATIRON — A Fort Greene Latin restaurant will open a three-day pop up in the basement of a Flatiron eatery later this month while it continues to rebuild its home after a crippling fire forced it to close earlier this year.

Colonia Verde will use the basement dining area of Dig Inn, at 1178 Broadway, to host three nights of dinner service while it’s Fort Greene location continues to rebuild from a fire that broke out in the kitchen in February, according to a spokesman for the restaurant.

“Back in February, when Colonia Verde caught fire, Adam [Eskin, owner of Dig Inn] suggested we do a pop-up as a way to test out some new recipes and get a chance to gather around a table to celebrate our food, our friendship and the on-going support from our community,” said Carolina Santos-Neves, chef at Colonia.

The dinners will run from March 26-28, and will offer Colonia Verde favorites including its signature grilled steak, and new dishes like an octopus al pastor, made with fire-roasted pineapple and red onion, Santos-Neves said.

The menu will be price fixed at $55 plus tax and tip, and includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert. Seats are limited to 8 people per party.

All of the ingredients used in the pop-up will be sourced by Dig Inn, a healthy fast-casual resaurant focused on seasonal ingredients.

Colonia Verde is hoping to reopen its 219 Dekalb Ave. location in mid-April.

The pop-up will offer dinner at 7 p.m. on March 26, 6:30 and 9 p.m. on March 27 and 6:30 and 9 p.m. on March 28. Buy tickets here.
