NEW YORK CITY — Your commute is about to get a little more expensive again.

MTA fares are set to rise by about 4 percent Sunday, March 22 after being approved in January, according to the MTA website.

Unlimited monthly passes will bump up to $116.50 — from $112 — with single subway rides increasing to $2.75 — from $2.50 — the MTA said.

Unlimited, seven-day passes will bump up to $31.

Fares on the Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North are also set to rise by about 4.25 percent or less, the MTA said. Price hikes will vary from line to line, officials said.

Those in cars will also have to shell out more cash as tolls on MTA bridges and tunnels will jump from $7.50 to $8. E-ZPass drivers will have to spend $0.21 more with tolls rising to $5.54.

The MTA voted on the fare hikes during a public hearing in January. They have said increases are necessary in order to help shave its large deficit.
