INWOOD — A woman was struck by an SUV driver on 207th Street Thursday afternoon, marking the third time in just over a week that a pedestrian has been hit on the busy crosstown street, police said.
The victim, in her 40s, was crossing Seaman Avenue around 3 p.m. when she was struck by a white Jeep making a left turn from 207th Street, police said.
The woman was taken to Harlem Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the FDNY said, but a police source said the injuries were potentially serious and that she was complaining of pain in both her legs.
The female driver of the Jeep stayed at the scene and was not speeding at the time of the incident, a police source said. The driver told police she didn't see the pedestrian in the crosswalk when she made the turn, witnesses and a police source added. Sun glare may have been a factor, a police source added.
The driver received a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian, police said.
Last week, two pedestrians were struck less than an hour apart at different intersections on 207th Street. On March 3, a 52-year-old woman was hit while crossing against the light at Ninth Avenue, and a 54-year-old man was struck while crossing Broadway, police said.
