TREMONT — A Bronx mother of three was fatally shot in the back of the head Wednesday, and police are looking at the father of her and her girlfriend's child as a potential suspect.

Michelle Cox, 41, was in her apartment on Webster Avenue, near East 179th Street, about 10 p.m. when she got a phone call and stepped outside, according to police.

Shortly after, she was shot in the back of the head between the first and second floors of the building, police said.

Emergency responders pronounced Cox dead at the scene.

Cox lived in the apartment with her girlfriend, and both had children by the same man, who is now being questioned in her murder.
