UPPER WEST SIDE — A man with a gun walked into a local church and said he was "going to kill people" before fleeing the house of worship last week, police said.

The suspect walked into the Advent Lutheran Church at 2504 Broadway, at West 93rd Street, at about 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 23 and approached a 60-year-old man while flashing a black handgun, the NYPD said.

"I'm going to kill people," the suspect told the man before leaving the church and fleeing in an unknown direction, police said. He did not fire the gun or injure anyone while inside, police added.

The suspect is described as in his 30s, standing standing about 5 foot 8 inches and weighing about 180 pounds, the NYPD said. He was wearing a gray jacket and black jeans at the time, police noted.

He was still at large as of Monday morning, the NYPD said.

Church officials declined to comment.
