FLATIRON — An “old-fashioned-style” bar offering more than a dozen craft beers is opening at the former LuLu & Me space on Fifth Avenue, the owner said.

John Doe’s, a gastropub specializing in top shelf rye whiskey and serving American food, will open at 253 Fifth Ave. near East 28th Street, in March, according to owner John Maloney who also owns Austin Public in Forest Hills and The Junction in Midtown.

“[We’re] gonna open an old-fashioned-style bar, but with a modern twist on food and drink,” Maloney said in an email.

The bar will carry 20 beers, mostly craft varieties, and a large selection of rye whiskey, Maloney said.

The food will be “all-time American," including dishes like braised short ribs, rabbit pot pie, burgers and seafood, Maloney said.

John Doe’s will offer lunch, dinner and brunch, Maloney said.
