MANHATTAN — A woman was seriously hurt when a van hit her in Chinatown Wednesday morning, officials said.

The 62-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately released, was struck by a gray Ford van with New Jersey plates near the intersection of Canal and Mott streets at 11:24 a.m., according to NYPD and FDNY officials.

"The lady was on the ground. She was face down. There was blood coming from her face," said a Canal Street fruit vendor, Tony Estrada, 34.

The woman suffered serious injuries, but was in stable condition at Bellevue Hospital, officials said.

The man who witnesses said was the driver remained on the scene, but he declined to comment.

"The driver got out and he stayed there. He was looking around at what happened," Estrada said.

The driver was not immediately charged in the collision, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
