BUSHWICK — The owner of a local screen-printing and skateboard shop is raising money to pay for his pet pug's surgery after the pup was run over by a car over the weekend.

Six-year-old Sancho regularly hangs out at Silkys at The Loom, located at 1087 Flushing Ave., where his owner Jason Caceres works.

The black pug got loose from his leash on Sunday night near his owner's Bushwick home, and a car ran over his two hind legs, fracturing his pelvis in two places, Caceres said.

Sancho is in a lot of pain but "miraculously" survived the incident, he said.

Now Caceres, who has owned Silkys for more than four years, is gathering money through the online fundraising site GoFundMe to pay for Sancho's surgery. Forty locals had already donated nearly $1,500 as of Wednesday.
