MOTT HAVEN — A substitute teaching assistant accused of raping a 14-year-old special education student faces 25 criminal counts against her, including charges of sexual misconduct, sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said.

Throughout the month of January, Maria Contreras, 29, molested the boy inside the Bronx Academy of Letters at 339 Morris Ave., where she worked as a paraprofessional, according to the Department of Education.

Contreras also had sex with her victim about six times over a roughly two-week period in mid-November in her apartment, according to court documents.

"These allegations are incredibly disturbing," DOE spokeswoman Devora Kaye said in an email. "Ms. Contreras has been removed from her position and will no longer be employed by the DOE. We are working with NYPD on their investigation."

Contreras posted bail and is due back in court on Feb. 13. Her lawyer could not be reached for comment.
