MIDTOWN — Snow could fall for 48 hours straight this weekend, forecasters said.

The storm is expected to begin late Saturday and continue all the way through Monday evening, dumping up to 8 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

While the intensity of the snow is expected to be relatively light, its long duration could result in significant accumulation, a service spokesman said.

Highs this weekend should hover around the freezing mark.

The city could also see an inch of snow Thursday as a band of light snow moves into the area around the evening rush hour, a service spokesman said.

Temperatures were in the low 30s during the morning, but were expected to drop into the single digits Thursday night, with a wind chill around zero degrees, according to the NWS.
