MIDTOWN — The suspected killer in the fatal Time Square stabbing of a homeless man Tuesday has been caught near Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, DNAinfo New York has learned.

Connecticut State Police in Montville spotted the 35-year-old suspect after he got off a bus that originated from the Port Authority, sources said.

The suspect, who is also homeless, allegedly got into an argument with the victim in the rear of the New State Café, at 552 Seventh Ave., at roughly 9 p.m. Tuesday.

He allegedly stabbed him several times in the chest, sending patrons screaming in horror, law enforcement sources said.

The killing was captured on video, which also provided detectives images of the suspect that were transmitted throughout the tri-state area, sources said.

The 36-year-old victim managed to stagger out of the cafe and around the corner, where he collapsed in front front of 213 W. 40th St., NYPD officials said.

He was pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital a short time later, police said.

Sources said the victim, who has not been formally identified, is from Mexico. Detectives are having difficulty finding his family.

His alleged killer, whose name has not been confirmed by police, is said to be from Peru.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Bob Boyce said during a press conference following the killing that the two men had gotten into an argument earlier in the day at Eighth Avenue and West 38th Street.

Boyce said the victim then placed a 911 call about possibly being injured in a fight. Two hours later, he went into the café looking for his attacker, Boyce said.

The victim found his assailant with six other individuals and then appeared to get into an argument with them, according to surveillance footage.

"Immediately as he goes in [to the cafe] he starts arguing with this individual," Boyce said. "This individual then stabs him twice. He walks outside and he collapses nearby."

NYPD invetigators were heading to Connecticut to speak with the suspect and attempt to bring him back to face a murder charge.
