NEW YORK CITY — Wednesday night's snow could just be a teaser for what's to come.

The National Weather Service is warning a nor'easter could hit late Friday night, threatening to dump more than 6 inches.

Light snowfall starting Wednesday evening will bring less than an inch of accumulation, NWS spokesman Joe Pollina said. The Office of Emergency Management issued a travel advisory for late Wednesday into Thursday morning, and temperatures are expected to dip slightly into the 20's and hover back to the low 30's tomorrow.

The city is preparing its plows, salt spreaders and tire chains for the snow that could make for a sloppy morning commute.

Friday night's storm is causing more concern.

"There's a potential for it to be a significant snowfall event, 6 inches or greater in a 12-hour period," Pollina said. The snowfall would be heaviest Saturday afternoon, he said.

After the storm, temperatures are expected creep up to high 30s on Sunday.
