UPPER WEST SIDE — A pedestrian was hit by a car at 97th Street and Columbus Avenue shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday, officials said.

The person refused medical attention, according to an FDNY spokeswoman. Officials did not have any further information about the victim.

The area has seen a high number of accidents involving pedestrians struck by vehicles.

Friday's incident took place just an avenue over from where 4-year-old Ariel Russo was fatally struck by an SUV.

And last week, on New Year's Eve, a Brooklyn photographer was killed in a hit-and-run as she crossed 113th Street and Amsterdam Avenue. The 28-year-old driver was arrested on Jan. 8.

Additionally, West 97th Street was the most dangerous street across all major avenues on the Upper West Side, according to police data from July 2012 to July 2014.
