UPPER WEST SIDE — A straphanger was hit by a northbound 3 train after he fell onto the tracks at the West 72nd Street station Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The victim was lying on the tracks when the train rolled into the station, at Broadway and West 72nd Street, at 12:45 p.m., a transit spokesman said.

Trains on the 1, 2 and 3 lines were all bypassing the 72nd Street station while emergency responders tried to help the victim, the MTA said.

The 2 and 3 trains were running local through most other Manhattan stations.
