Upper East Side Woman Dies After Being Hit by Van Friday

MANHATTAN — An Upper East Side woman who was struck by a van Friday while she was crossing Third Avenue succumbed to her injuries Monday, according to police.

Gloria Ramiro, 64, was crossing Third Avenue mid-block near 81st Street when a Chevy van heading northbound struck her at about 6:32 p.m. on Dec. 5, the NYPD said.

Ramiro, who lived at 998 Fifth Avenue, suffered trauma to her head and body. She was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she later died.

The 25-year-old driver remained on the scene and was not initially charged, according to police.

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating.
