BAY RIDGE — A neighborhood institution has closed its doors after decades on Third Avenue.

Donut Stop, which serves diner-style food, coffee and donuts, shuttered over the weekend.

"On Sunday November 30 we will be closing are [sic] doors on 3rd Ave.," the post read. "My family would like to thank all are customers and neighbors for the great memories."

It is unclear why the popular spot, located at 9406 Third Ave., closed. The owners could not be reached for comment.

The eatery is known for its bacon, eggs and donuts.

"Nice, old school, family owned luncheonette...this was my go-to spot for Sunday morning breakfast with the family," Tom M. wrote on Yelp. "My wife has been going to the Donut Stop for more than twenty years."

Local residents took to social media to express their regret at the diner's closure.

"My second home," local Joan Morgan Shaulinski wrote on Facebook. "I will miss it daily."

Another patron, Patrick Boivin, wrote "Your restaurant will stay in memories forever..."
