STATEN ISLAND — One person was critically injured in a Heartland Village apartment building fire that also left six other people hurt, officials said.

The blaze erupted within 90 Richmond Hill Road, near Racal Court, just before 9 a.m., an FDNY spokeswoman said.

The person, whose identity was not immediately released, was listed in critical condition at Staten Island University North Hospital, the spokeswoman said.

Five civilians and a firefighter were treated for minor injuries, the spokeswoman said. One of them was also taken to the hospital, she added.

The fire was brought under control about 9:50 a.m., officials said.
