PARK SLOPE — A hospital stay can cost an arm and a leg, but in this case a patient lost her wallet.

A 42-year-old woman had her wallet stolen from her hospital bed at New York Methodist Hospital on Nov. 13 when she left her room about 2:15 p.m. to go get some medical tests done, according to a police report.

The patient stashed the wallet underneath the bed pillow in her seventh-floor room, but when she returned the bed was in the hall and the wallet was gone, according to the report. The wallet contained credit cards, $65 in cash and a MetroCard.

No arrests had been made in the incident as of Thursday. A hospital spokeswoman said all patients are advised to not keep valuables or "large amounts of cash" in their rooms.

"We advise that they ask a friend or family member to take them home for safekeeping or, if necessary, have their nurse arrange to put them in the hospital vault," spokeswoman Lyn Hill said in an email.
