CORONA — The Queen of soft serve and burgers is finally in Queens.

Dairy Queen Grill & Chill opened at 37-39 Junction Blvd. on Veterans Day, according to general manager D.J. Marcelin. It's the borough's only DQ.

There are only three other locations in the city to feast on Blizzards, Orange Julius or a chicken strip basket: one in The Bronx, one on Staten Island and one in Manhattan, which drew a line of more than 100 people when it opened in May.

While there wasn't as much fanfare in Corona, the first week has been "pretty good," Marcelin said.

"We've enjoyed everybody coming out to show their support," he said.

The Junction Boulevard location is a Grill & Chill, which offers an expanded menu and table service. There is also the usual "5 Buck Lunch" special, which includes a main dish, like a burger, a side dish, a drink and a dessert for only $5.60 with tax.

The Dairy Queen is also offering a four-piece chicken strip meal, with fries and toast, for $4.99 through the end of November, Marcelin said. And specially made ice cream cakes, which can be designed online, are half off for the next two weeks.

The franchise owners picked Junction Boulevard because of its location, Marcelin said, which is a busy thoroughfare steps from the 7 train.

"We liked the area, the people," he said.

He encouraged local community groups and schools to get in touch for fundraisers or other ways for the major chain to give back.

"We're trying to get with the community, and become more involved," he said.
