BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Yogis can mix their vinyasas with some therapy at a new studio in Bed-Stuy.

NESH Mind Body Soul, which opened this month at 350 Tompkins Ave., is a yoga studio that also houses a private practice of relationship and individual counseling.

Founder Dynesha Henderson, a trained couples and family therapist, created the studio as the beginnings of a wellness center. She has a holistic perspective on the idea of wellness, she said.

“My vision as a therapist is understanding the problem and strengthening the body as another part of the process,” Henderson added.

“With some challenges I’ve been through, this is the regimen I go through to make myself feel better — a ‘mind, body, soul’ approach.”

She's already planning to expand by spring 2015 with a coffee shop and a larger space for yoga and counseling.

Currently, five teachers lead classes in the 700-square-foot studio, where customers can stretch out in 60-minute morning sessions six days a week. Standard classes cost $10.

Other openings in Bed-Stuy include:
Brooklyn Wine Yard announced a soft opening earlier this month at 1114 Fulton St., the previous site of a jewelry store.

The restaurant’s bar is open for business on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays with happy hours that include $5 margaritas. Following the grand opening on Nov. 27, customers will be able to enjoy menu items such as duck sliders and lobster rolls.

The owners say they hope to make Brooklyn Wine Yard the neighborhood “Cheers.”

► Also new to the area is Soul Collections, a “sewing lounge” that offers training classes for adults and children in pattern making and sewing. The 1126 Bedford Ave. location opened in October as part of the business’s expansion, with classes also held at 315 Gates Ave.

Computerized sewing machines help students learn to make bags, clothes or gifts and return to the “lost art of sewing,” according to owner Shannon Curry.

Calabar Imports, a store for handcrafted clothes, accessories, jewelry and home decor, launched a pop-up shop at 351 Tompkins Ave. last month.

The Bed-Stuy storefront joins the business's existing locations in DUMBO, Crown Heights and Boerum Hill and hosts events including women’s business networking forums and poetry readings.
