MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS — A homeless man was arrested for following a 27-year-old woman into an off-campus student housing building near Columbia University this week and sexually assaulting her, police and school officials said.

Taylor Allen, 27, who police said does not have a residence, was charged Friday with attempted rape, burglary and sexual assault, the NYPD said.

Allen allegedly followed the woman, who the university said was affiliated with Columbia, into the vestibule of the building on West 113th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue Wednesday at 9:41 p.m., police said. He fondled her, knocked her to the ground and tried to remove her bra before fleeing, police added.

The woman declined medical attention, police said.

Allen's lawyer could not be immediately reached.
