WEST VILLAGE — A bartender at a Village jazz club chucked a glass at the head of a drunk customer who refused to leave the bar, causing him to get stitches, according to police and the bartender's attorney.

Kirka Washington, 37, was working at Arthur's Tavern at 57 Grove St. about 1 a.m. on Oct. 24 when she asked the 24-year-old man to leave "because of his intoxicated condition and obnoxious behavior," said Mark Bederow, Washington's attorney.

"Instead of leaving, he engaged in inappropriate and threatening behavior, which included breaking glasses at the bar," Bederow said.

Police said Washington picked up a glass off the bar and lobbed it at the man's head. He needed stitches and was taken to the nearby Lenox Hill HealthPlex for medical care, police said. It wasn't clear if any other staff or a bouncer were working there at the time.

Washington, a Brooklyn resident, was arrested and charged with assault. Prosecutors asked a judge to hold her on $5,000 bail, but the judge released her without bail, records show. She is due to return to court on Feb. 10.

Bederow said prosecutors' account did not provide a full picture of the incident, but he declined to comment further.

Washington, who was back at work Wednesday night, declined to comment.

They were with at least three other socialites, including a celebrity stylist and a producer of the reality show "Real Housewives of Atlanta," sources said.

According to sources, Ford was left with cuts and swelling to her head, requiring three staples, as well as a gash on her foot from broken glass.
