UNION SQUARE — Three MTA workers were hospitalized early Thursday after suffering burns while repairing rails on the 4, 5 and 6 subway lines at the Union Square station, the FDNY and MTA said.

One worker suffered flash burns to his face and hand, while two others sustained minor injuries following the mishap on the southbound tracks at Union Square around 3:30 a.m., the MTA said.

It was not clear exactly what led to the injuries.

The workers were taken to Cornell Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the FDNY said.
