MANHATTAN — A man was on the loose after asking a woman for a lighter on the Upper East Side and then sexually assaulting her Friday morning, police said.

The man approached her near the intersection of York Avenue and East 72nd Street about 5 a.m. when he grabbed and attacked her, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

She was taken to an area hospital after the assault, officials said.

The suspect was still at large later on Friday morning, but police could not provide any further description or details.
