STUYVESANT TOWN — The man arrested Monday for trying to rape a woman in a Stuy Town elevator and then hid in a nearby tree has been tied to a second attack this summer, the NYPD said.

Juan Scott, a 26-year-old East Village resident, followed a woman into her building’s elevator and attacked her at about 4 a.m. on Oct. 17, police said.

When the 20-year-old victim screamed and struggled, Scott fled the building, climbed a tree outside of the complex and hid there. He eventually climbed down and ran away, police said.

The woman was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, according to police.

Scott was charged with attempted rape. Police could not say where or how Scott was found, but noted that he was being investigated for other crimes as well. Scott lives just a block away from Stuy Town, on East 13th Street, police said.

Later Monday, Scott was charged with a second rape attempt that happened on East 11th Street on June 3, police said.

Information about his attorney was not immediately available.
