FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Pay tribute to Zelda, Battery Park’s recently deceased resident turkey, this weekend at a farm shaped in her honor.

The Battery Urban Farm’s 1-acre garden — which was grown in the shape of Zelda, a beloved fixture in the park for more than 11 years before she was run over by a car on South Street — is honoring the recently departed turkey with a photo tribute at the park's fourth annual Harvest Fest on Oct. 18.

"Zelda came to every party we had in the park," said Battery Conservancy spokeswoman Nicole Brownstein. "We couldn't imagine not having her involved in the Harvest Fest, especially so soon after we lost her."

The Battery Urban Farm is putting together a photo collage of Zelda and is collecting pictures, memories and kind words from anyone who wants to contribute.

"We wanted a way to engage all the people that have been sending in their pictures and memories of our loved bird Zelda," Brownstein said.

Along with the Zelda memorial, the Harvest Fest will feature a day of free, family-friendly activities, like potato sack races, live music, cooking demonstrations and planting in the garden.

Those who want to contribute photos can send them to info@thebattery.org or can bring the photos to the fest, which starts at noon.

The Harvest Fest is free and runs from noon to 4 p.m. on Oct. 18, and will be followed by square dancing that runs until 6:30 p.m. Battery Urban Farm is located in Battery Park, near the Staten Island Ferry Terminal. For more information, head to the The Battery Conservancy's website.
