DONGAN HILLS — A runner collapsed during the Staten Island Half Marathon on Sunday, police said.

The 57-year-old man went into cardiac arrest and collapsed at Father Capodanno Boulevard and Buel Avenue — near the halfway point of the race — on Sunday around 9:23 a.m., police said.

A defibrillator and CPR was used on the runner before he was taken to Staten Island University Hospital North. He's listed in critical condition, police said.

The 13.1 mile annual race brought nearly 10,000 people to the borough and serves as one of the last races before the New York Marathon.
