$3,000 Stolen from 75-Year-Old Man's Carroll Gardens Home, Police Say

CARROLL GARDENS — A 75-year-old man was robbed of $3,000 from his Carroll Gardens home between Sept. 28 and Oct. 12, police said.

The victim was on the phone with a friend who needed to borrow money when he went to check his wallet, which he keeps in his bedroom closet, and realized that the cash was missing, police said.

Only the victim and his wife live in the apartment, located on the 200-block of Huntington Street, police said. 

There was no forced entry into the apartment but the victim added that other people had keys to the front door. 

The victim said he asked his wife if she took the money and she said no, according to the police report.

Other notables crimes in the 76th Precinct, according to police, include:

► Two pencil skirts worth $100 in total were stolen from American Apparel located at 237 Smith St. on Oct. 12, police said. A 22-year-old woman with red hair entered the store with two other women, took the skirts and put them in her bag. 

A manager at the shop said the incident was still under investigation.

► A $1,000 bicycle and more than $100 in accessories that were chained to a stoop were stolen frombetween Aug. 30 to Oct. 6, police said. The victim, a 34-year-old woman, had chained the bicycle to her stoop on Nelson Street between Court and Clinton streets when the incident took place.
