BROOKLYN — A straphanger asked a man standing on a Crown Heights subway platform, "What are you looking at?" before bashing him in the face with a white electric guitar, police said.

The suspect had just hopped off the shuttle train at the northbound platform in the Botanic Garden subway station on Eastern Parkway just before 1 p.m. Sept. 23 when he caught a 24-year-old man eyeing him, police said.

After walloping him with the guitar, the suspect, whose photo was released by police, began punching the victim before fleeing the scene, according to the NYPD.

The victim, whose name was not released, was treated for cuts to his face at a local hospital, police said.

The suspect is in his late 20s, about 6 feet tall and 160 pounds, according to the NYPD.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
