Thief Rips Gold Jewelry From Woman's Neck as She Rides 2 Train, Police Say

FINANCIAL DISTRICT — A woman had her gold nameplate necklace ripped from her neck during an afternoon subway ride last weekend, police said.

A man snapped the necklace from the 39-year-old Queens woman's neck as her northbound 2 train stopped at Wall Street on Oct. 4 at about 1 p.m., police said. The woman told police that the thief yanked the gold chain from her, ran off the train and then up the station's steps.

Police were still investigating the incident as of Tuesday.

Other recent incidents in the 1st Precinct include:

► A man and a woman stole $2,700 worth of panties from a SoHo Victoria Secret’s on Oct. 4 at about 7:30 p.m. The man was a lookout as the woman stuffed 200 pairs of underwear into her bag at the 591 Broadway shop, which is no stranger to shoplifting, police said.

The theft was caught on surveillance video, but no one had been arrested as of Tuesday.

The store declined to comment.

► A man and a woman stole a $2,785 Louis Vuitton suitcase from boutique Paris Stations, police said. The duo grabbed the pricey bag at about 1 p.m. on Oct. 2 from the 367 W. Broadway store.

Oneal Person, 54, and Charlotte Blue, 45, were arrested and charged with criminal possession of stolen property and grand larceny. Person was being held on a $7,500 cash bail, while Blue was being held on a $2,500 cash bail. They are set to appear in court again on Oct. 8.

The store did not immediately return request for comment.

Calls to the New York Defender Service, the pair's legal representation, according to court documents, were not immediately returned.

Paris Stations did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

► A 26-year-old man had his iPhone 6 stolen from his pocket as he slept on the N train on Oct. 4. The man awoke at the Whitehall Street station at 2:30 a.m., after boarding at the Astoria Boulevard stop, to find his iPhone missing, police said.

Police arrested Marco Saraguvo, 36, for the theft. He was charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property. S

Saraguvo is due back in court on Oct. 10, and was being held on $1,000 cash bail. A call to Legal Aid, his legal representation according to court documents, was not immediately returned.
