Man Shot to Death During Brawl Outside Bronx Nightclub, Police Say

THE BRONX — A man was fatally shot during a racous brawl involving guns, knives and bats outside a Fordham nightclub that also left five others injured, police said.

Dennis Rodriguez, 24, was with a group leaving Xtreme Lounge at 2510 Valentine Ave., near East Fordham Road, as it was closing about 3:50 a.m. when they were attacked by a large group of people, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

During the melee, Rodriguez, of Mott Haven, was shot in the head, police said. He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead, officials said.

Police said there were several other men hospitalized with injuries, including a 21-year-old shot in the leg and a 24-year-old shot in the torso. A 22-year-old man was slashed in the face, a 23-year-old was slashed in the torso and a 26-year-old man was beaten in the head and torso with a bat, police said.

All the wounded men were also taken to St. Barnabas where they were listed in stable condition, according to the NYPD.

It was not immediately clear which groups the wounded men belonged to, police said. No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, officials said.
