BROOKLYN —  Two people swindled about $8,000 in gold jewelry from a Bushwick woman in a confidence scheme on Friday, according to the NYPD

The female suspect approached the 53-year-old female victim at 183 Wyckoff St. at about 10:20 a.m. and told her she had a winning lottery ticket, but was unable to cash it because she was an undocumented immigrant, a police spokesman said.

A man pretended he was just walking by and overheard their conversation. He offered to drive the two to the victim’s apartment on Dekalb Avenue so she could grab the jewelry to use as collateral, the spokesman added.

After the woman handed over the jewelry to the male suspect, he told her she would have to go back into her apartment to grab her social security card to prove she was a citizen in order to cash the ticket, police said.

When the woman came back outside she found two had taken off in the man’s gold-colored minivan.

It was not immediately clear how much they told the woman the winning lottery ticket was worth.

The female suspect was wearing a pink shirt and tan pants.

The male suspect was wearing a black jacket, navy blue pants and sunglasses.
