COLUMBUS CIRCLE — A worker was seriously hurt Thursday morning in a 20-foot fall down an elevator shaft at the Time Warner Center, an FDNY spokeswoman said.

The worker, whose identity was not immediately released, fell from the first floor to the basement of the center at 10 Columbus Circle about 6:15 a.m., FDNY officials said.

The person was taken to New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell hospital with serious injuries but was in stable condition, an FDNY spokeswoman said.

A spokeswoman for the Time Warner Center said the company was investigating the fall, but she declined to provide further information about the incident.
