MANHATTAN — Plumes of black smoke and flames shot out of a Flatiron building’s roof Friday afternoon, according to the FDNY and photos.
The fire started at 2 p.m. on the top of the 12-story residential building at 11 W. 17th St. Flames can be seen engulfing a structure on the roof and the smoke billowing from the fire.
About 60 fire firefighters responded to the blaze, which was under control by 2:27 p.m., a fire department spokesman said.
There were no reported injuries.
