Police Officer Injured in Harlem Apartment Building Fire, Officials Say

MANHATTAN — A police officer was hospitalized after suffering smoke inhalation at a Harlem fire Thursday afternoon, fire officials said. 

The fire broke out about 4:40 p.m. on the second floor of a 14-story building at 2406 Frederick Douglass Blvd. in the Saint Nicholas Houses, according to the FDNY.

The officer was taken to St Luke's Hospital in serious but stable condition. The injuries were not considered life threatening.

The NYPD did not have any immediate information on why the officer was in the building.
