MASPETH — Incumbent Margaret Markey beat out challenger Dmytro Fedkowskyj in the Democratic primary Tuesday in the 30th Assembly District in Queens.

Markey, who has been in the Assembly since 1998 and represents Maspeth, Woodside and parts of Astoria, Sunnyside, Long Island City and Middle Village, pulled in just over 75 percent of votes, according to results reported by the New York Times.

She was challenged by Fedkowskyj, a member of Queens Community Board 5 who previously served on the Community Education Council for District 24 and was also a Queens representative on the city's Panel for Educational Policy, according to the bio on his website.

He congratulated Markey in a statement posted to his Facebook page Wednesday morning.

"Friends, although the election didn’t go our way, I am proud of the campaign that we put together and of our message for the 30th Assembly District," he wrote.
