BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — "Girls" creator and star Lena Dunham took to Instagram Tuesday to say goodbye to Brooklyn Heights' decades-old indie movie theater.

Brooklyn Heights Cinema closed last week after the theater's 70 Henry St. building was sold, owner Kenn Lowy previously told DNAinfo New York.

"Dear Brooklyn Heights Cinema, You will be missed. Thank you for being you. I'm sorry we couldn't keep you breathing. Love, Lena," Dunham posted on Instagram, along with a photograph of the former theater.

Lowy said poor attendance and low ticket sales were additional reasons for closing the theater's doors.

Lowy, who was not immediately available for comment, is currently in talks to take over the former reBar space in DUMBO, which shuttered last May.
