NOLITA — “Friends” fans can step into the show’s famous coffee shop, Central Perk, when it opens a pop-up location in Nolita this fall.
Warner Bros. is recreating one of the characters’ favorite hangouts at 199 Lafayette St. to mark the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere, according to a press release.
Central Perk’s Sept. 17 opening was first reported by Entertainment Weekly.
Visitors to the cafe will be able to lounge on the set’s original orange couch and take “sofa selfies” with a number of props and a show-themed backdrop, the release said.
The cafe will serve free cups of Eight O’Clock Coffee, including a special Central Perk Roast. "Friends"-themed merchandise will also be on sale.
Other events at the monthlong pop-up include appearances by James Michael Tyler, who played Central Perk’s deadpan barista Gunther, according to the release. The space will hold performances of music similar to Phoebe’s improvised songs like “Smelly Cat.”
There will also be contests and giveaways, including all 10 seasons of “Friends."
Central Perk will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 17 to Oct. 18.
