CROWN HEIGHTS  Get excited, beer lovers: Berg’n, the new 9,000-square-foot beer hall and food court in the neighborhood, is open for business.

Originally set to open in mid-May, Berg’n fans had to wait a few extra months to see the new food and drink venue co-created by the founders of the Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg, Eric Demby and Jonathan Butler. Four food vendors from those festivals now have brick-and-mortar stalls at Berg’n, a first for Ramen Burger, the popular burger maker that uses ramen patties instead of buns. Pizza Moto, Mighty Quinn’s Barbeque and Asia Dog, a bahn mi hotdog joint, also have spots in the new venue.

To wash down dinner, Berg’n has nearly a dozen kinds of beer on tap between $6 and $8, more than 25 bottled suds, eight kinds of wine and non-alcoholic sodas from Brooklyn Soda Works, according to their menu.

Though the beer hall will close at 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends, Berg’n isn’t only for a night time crowd  it will open every day at 8 a.m. with a coffee bar and donuts, according to its owners, and the food vendors will start serving lunch around 11:30 a.m.

On Wednesday around noon, a few dozen people ordered lunch and sipped coffee at the beer hall, some working on laptops or reading books at the venue’s long wooden tables.

Crown Heights resident and grad student Martha Pool took a break from studying to “check out the scene” on opening day with a friend.

“It seems like this totally new thing for Crown Heights, especially the scale of it,” she said after ordering from Ramen Burger. “It’ll be interesting to see how much traffic this draws, eventually.”

Her friend, Charlie Kasov, added he thinks Berg’n may ease demand at other popular bars  on nearby Franklin Avenue.

“If Franklin Park has lines, this is totally going to take the overflow from that,” he said, referring to the beer garden-style bar and restaurant on Franklin Avenue and St. Johns Place.

The beer hall is connected by a passageway to 1000 Dean Street, the former automobile service station and warehouse that opened as an office building this spring, so workers there have direct access to Berg’n during the day.

Berg’n is located at 899 Bergen St. between Classon and Franklin avenues.
