11 Subway Lines Face Service Changes This Weekend

NEW YORK CITY — Before you leave your apartment this weekend, plan ahead: Service changes will hit 11 subway lines.

Service will be disrupted on the 4, 6, A, C, D, E, F, G, N, R and Q lines as the MTA works on upgrades and repairs.

Here’s your weekend subway breakdown by line:

4 Line: From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local from 125th Street to Grand Central-42nd Street due to cable work.

6 Line: Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday until February of next year, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both directions because of rehab work.

For service to and from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4 or shuttle buses to connect between Zerega Avenue and Castle Hill Avenue. Free transfers are available with a MetroCard.

For service to and from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses to connect between Buhre Avenue and Middletown Road. Free transfers are available with a MetroCard.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Bronx-bound 6 trains will run express from Hunts Point Avenue to Parkchester.

From 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 6 trains will run every 16 minutes between 3rd Avenue-138th Street and Pelham Bay Park.

A Line: Until September, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 88th Street, and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 104th Street because of station work at 88th Street and 104th Street.

For service to 88th Street, take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. For service from 88th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

For service to 104th Street, take the Lefferts Boulevard-bound A to Lefferts Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. From 104th Street, take the Q112 bus or take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

From 11:45 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, Manhattan-bound A trains will be rerouted on the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West 4th Street-Washington Square, then will run local to 59th Street-Columbus Circle.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Manhattan-bound C trains will be rerouted on the F line from Jay Street-Metrotech to West 4th Street-Washington Square.

D Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound D trains will be rerouted on the N line from 36th Street to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.

E Line: From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will run local in Queens due to signal work and track and rail repairs.

F Line: From 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will run local in Queens due to signal work and track and rail repairs.

G Line: Until Sept. 2 at 5 a.m., G trains are suspended between Long Island City-Court Square and Nassau Avenue because of Hurricane Sandy-related work on the Greenpoint tube. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service along two routes: via Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping at Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street; and via McGuinness Boulevard between Lorimer Street and Court Square, stopping near G stations at Nassau Avenue, Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street.

N Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, N trains will be suspended between Lexington Avenue/59th Street and Queensboro Plaza due to track work and switch work. Take the 7 train for service between Manhattan and Queens.

Q Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound Q trains will run express from Kings Highway to Sheepshead Bay due to track work at Sheepshead Bay.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Q trains will be suspended between 57th Street-7th Avenue and Times Square-42nd Street due to track work and switch work. Take the N/R instead.

R Line: From 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, R service will be extended to Jamaica-179th Street.

From 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, R trains will be rerouted on the F line in both directions between Manhattan and Queens due to track work and switch work.
