MANHATTAN — A man's body was pulled from the waters off the Meatpacking District Thursday evening with a puncture wound to his right ear, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

The man, who was not immediately identified, was found dead in the water near Pier 51 at West 12th Street and West Street about 7 p.m., police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The medical examiner's office had yet to determine his cause of death, according to the NYPD. It is not yet known what caused the wound.

Police were still investigating his death.
