KIPS BAY — A man was beaten last week by robbers who took off with his wallet and his shoes, NYPD said.

The 44-year-old victim was kicked and punched by several men inside the Strauss Houses, at 344 E. 28th St. near First Avenue, about 5:20 a.m. Aug. 3, according to police and the Manhattan District Attorney's office.

The men then grabbed his Phat Farm brand shoes, along with his wallet and two cellphones, and fled, police said.

The victim was left with a cut and swelling on his head, as well as bruised and scratched arms, according to the DA's criminal complaint.

Police arrested Jonathan Rivera, 18, four days later and charged him with robbery and resisting arrest.

The other men involved in the beating got away with the stolen property, the complaint said, but once Rivera was at the 13th Precinct stationhouse on Aug. 7, he made a phone call and asked an acquaintance to bring the stolen shoes to the precinct. A woman delivered the shoes to the precinct, the DA's office said.

Rivera is due back in court on Aug. 13. His attorney did not immediately respond to request for comment.

Other recent crimes that occurred in the 13th Precinct include:

► A thief who was fleeing police dashed onto the subway tracks at the Union Square station last week, police said.

James Davis, 50, lifted a wallet from a woman's purse on an Eighth Avenue-bound L train at about 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 4, police said.

Davis got off at the Union Square station and ran to the southbound 4/5 platform, police said. With officers pursuing him, Davis hopped down onto the tracks and raced over to the northbound 4/5 platform, where he was arrested, police said.

Davis was found with a Samsung Galaxy 3 phone and two MetroCards that didn't belong to him, police said.

He was charged with grand larceny, pickpocketing, resisting arrest, possession of stolen property and criminal trespass, police said.

He had used a dry cleaning bag with a pink shirt in it to conceal his arm as he stole the wallet on the L train, police said.

Information regarding Davis' attorney was not immediately available.

► A 21-year-old man punched another man to the ground before grabbing his wallet in front of 30 E. 20th St. near Park Avenue South, police said.

Edgar Gonzalez punched the victim and took his wallet out of his pants pocket at 12:05 a.m. on July 22, police said.

The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital. The wallet contained the victim’s MetroCard and $45 cash, police said.

Gonzalez was arrested on Aug. 7 and charged with robbery, according to online court records.

He is due back in court on Nov. 20. His attorney declined to comment.
