Service Changes Planned for 13 Subway Lines This Weekend

MIDTOWN — Service changes are slated to affect 13 subway lines Friday night through Monday morning as extensive MTA work takes place.

Here's a breakdown of the changes by line:

1 Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, South Ferry-bound 1 trains will run express from 145th Street to 96th Street due to repair work near 125th Street.

2 Line: From 3:45 a.m. Saturday to 10 p.m. Sunday, 2 trains will run in two segments: Between 241st Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse, with Manhattan-bound 2 trains running express from East 180th Street to 3rd Avenue-149th Street; and between 149th Street-Grand Concourse and Flatbush Avenue. This is due to track panel installation south of Prospect Avenue.

4 Line: From 11 p.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday, and from 11 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound 4 trains will run local from 125th Street to Grand Central due to cable work south of 125th Street.

5 Line: From 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday, 5 trains will be suspended between East 180th Street and Bowling Green due to track panel installation south of Prospect Avenue. A 5 shuttle service will operate between Dyre Avenue and East 180th Street all weekend.

6 Line: Beginning at 12:01 a.m. Saturday until February of next year, 6 trains will skip Zerega Avenue and Buhre Avenue in both direction because of station rehab work.

For service to/from Zerega Avenue, use the Bx4 bus or shuttle buses. For service to/from Buhre Avenue, use the Bx8, Bx24 or shuttle buses. Free transfer is available with a MetroCard.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn Bridge-bound 6 trains will run express from Pelham Bay Park to Parkchester because of station rehabilitation work at Buhre Avenue and Zerega Avenue.

A Line: Until September, Far Rockaway/Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 88th Street, and Lefferts Boulevard-bound A trains skip 104th Street because of station work at 88th Street and 104th Street.

For service to 88th Street, take the A to Rockaway Boulevard and transfer to a Brooklyn-bound A. For service from 88th Street, take a Brooklyn-bound A to 80th Street and transfer to a Far Rockaway or Lefferts Boulevard-bound A.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains will be suspended in both directions between Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard and Rockaway Boulevard because of station rehab work at the 88th Street and 104th Street stations. Howard Beach/Far Rockaway-bound A trains will skip 88th Street. Free shuttle buses provide alternate service via 80th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, A trains will be suspended in both directions between 168th Street and Inwood-207th Street due to track work near 181st Street. Free shuttles provide alternate service.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 6:30 a.m. Sunday, and from 11:45 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, Brooklyn-bound A trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street due to rail work south of West 4th Street.

C Line: From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, C trains will be suspended in both directions between 145th Street and 168th Street due to track work near 181st Street. Take the A, which will run local between 145th Street and 168th Street, as an alternative.

From 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Brooklyn-bound C trains will run express from Columbus Circle to Canal Street because of rail work south of West 4th Street.

E Line: From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, E trains will run local in Queens because of signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike and track work at 65th Street.

F Line: From 9:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Jamaica-bound F trains will be rerouted via the M line from Rockefeller Center to Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue because of Second Avenue construction work.

From 12:30 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday, F trains will run local in Queens because of signal modernization at Forest Hills-71st Avenue and Kew Gardens-Union Turnpike and track work at 65th Street.

From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, Coney Island-bound F trains will be rerouted via the A line from West 4th Street to Jay Street-MetroTech because of rail work south of West 4th Street.

G Line: Until Sept. 2 at 5 a.m., G trains are suspended between Long Island City-Court Square and Nassau Avenue because of Hurricane Sandy-related work on the Greenpoint tube. Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service along two routes: via Manhattan Avenue between Nassau Avenue and Court Square, stopping at Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street; and via McGuinness Boulevard between Lorimer Street and Court Square, stopping near G stations at Nassau Avenue, Greenpoint Avenue and 21st Street.

R Line: From 6:30 a.m. to midnight Saturday and Sunday, R service will be extended to Jamaica-179th Street.

S Line: From 11:45 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Sunday, the Franklin Avenue shuttle is suspended because of structural repairs to the Crown Street Bridge. Shuttle buses will provide service to the Franklin Avenue, Park Place, Botanic Garden and Prospect Park stations.

N Line: At all times until October, there are no N or R trains running between Court Street in Brooklyn and Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Late night N trains and weekend R trains are rerouted over the Manhattan Bridge.
